Presidents Message 2023-2024

As President of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) – South Florida Chapter, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bobby Glass, ASP, CHST, CSMP and I’m currently the Director of Safety for Centerline, Inc., located in Palm City, FL. I’ve been an active member, of ASSP, since 1999 and in the past several years, I’ve held several positions with the most recent position being that of President for 2020-2021/board member and I’ve been selected to hold the position again for 2023-2024. It’s my honor to represent our Chapter and I pledge to uphold the bylaws of our charter and to do my best to enhance our local Chapter on an on-going basis. I encourage each of you to participate on all levels and really think about volunteering your time and eventually applying and holding positions within the chapter.

With the start of 2023 and the ability to conduct live meetings, I’m excited about the new year (2023-2024). I participated in the ASSP PDC in San Antonio, TX and the attendance was great with a record broken of 6,000 + in attendance. The PDC was flawless, and the presentations were exceptional. Over the past couple of years, we’ve all seen people pull together, lean on one another and step-up to unknown challenges. As we navigate a dynamic and extraordinary world, our local chapter will continue to support our members by providing scheduled meetings along with website postings and other opportunities.

During my years associated with ASSP and the chapters, I’ve learned a lot from my ASSP peers, and I encourage everyone to attend our meetings, network and build those everlasting relationships. I want you to know that I appreciate all our Members and I look forward to meeting more of you at our meetings throughout the 2023-2024 year.

In addition, I’d like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our Board Members for their continued support, dedication, and achievements. A special thanks goes out too: Dave Lockhart, Tracy Linhart, Takisha Williams, Margaret Vrabel, Chris Kittleson, Mike Spyra and Kenneth Librizzi. Not only do we appreciate our acting Board Members, but we appreciate their Companies allowing them the time to participate and engaging the safety culture. Without the support and dedication of others no single ASSP chapter would exist.

I thank each of you and I look forward to great year and our continued progress. I believe that our overall efforts will continue to benefit our members, communities and those that are actively considering a career in the safety field.

I look forward to working with each of you and I look forward to seeing and meeting you at our next meeting..

Sincerely,

Bobby L. Glass CSMP, CA
