Health and Safety Supervisor

Miami Cruise Terminal A (MCTA) seeks a Health and Safety Supervisor (Contract Position) to oversee and implement the terminal safety program. The position will require the candidate to be onsite when cruise ships are at the terminal, and passengers are disembarking and embarking. Currently, ships are docked on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but this is subject to change.

Duties

  • Supports MCTA and Cruise Terminals International (CTI) management by providing recommendations for improving the terminal’s health and safety program and report them to the CTI EH&S Director for review and prioritization, and implementation of approved recommendations.
  • Coordinate the use of the electronic EHS management system (Safety Culture) for MCTA, ensuring accurate entries and maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Conduct daily site walk-downs of MCTA and identify risks and hazards to the staff, contractors, and cruise ship passengers. Document and track findings in Safety Culture and report them to the CTI EH&S Director for review and prioritization.
  • Provide input on controls and improvement actions and assist in tracking their implementation.
  • Assist in the development of processes to address hazards and support the implementation of controls to reduce risks to staff, contractors, and cruise ship passengers.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to staff and contractors on reporting safety concerns and participating in incident investigations.
  • Investigate incidents and assist in identifying root causes. Recommend corrective actions and report them to the CTI EH&S Director for review and prioritization, and support implementation.
  • Participate in regular meetings that discuss health and safety issues.
  • Collaborate with CTI EH&S Director to support the implementation of an effective EHS program at MCTA.

Minimum Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Management, or a related field is required.
  • Current/Active: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), is preferred, but not required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an EHS professional, including system development, risk mitigation, and incident investigation, is required.
  • OSHA 30-HR Construction or General Industry Health and Safety training (OSHA Training Card), preferred.
